Despite Priest's assertions that Black Panther was never really cancelled, just turned into a different title, and despite how much I'm digging The Crew so far (and wasn't it supposed to be a Tsunami title? Why doesn't it have the same trade dress?), I think I'm probably not alone in being a bit sad to see the last issue of Black Panther. I REALLY liked the Ascension storyline, and in a perfect world, Priest would be allowed to continue both series.

And for those of you who may have dropped the series before the end because you were pissed off about earlier events (Spoiler Space Follows, don't say I didn't warn you)...

Sgt Tork is alive, in a plot twist that I have mixed feelings about. One the one hand, he's a great character, so the fact that he'll be in future stories is a nice touch. But on the other hand, his death was a very powerful moment, him deciding to sacrifice himself to protect Kasper, and the fact that he didn't really make that sacrifice detracts from his character in a way.

UNLESS of course he really did think he was making the sacrifice, and T'Challa rescued him at the last moment off-camera, which now that I think about it is the only way his last pre-'death' scene makes any sense. But T'Challa and Tork seemed to indicate in #62 that Tork's faked death was part of the plan all along. I may have to go back and reread those issues.

His tricking Kasper and making him think he was going insane using Wakandan illusion-tech was vile. I would have done a lot more than punch him.
