The new TV GUIDE features Ben & Jen on the cover. Curiously, Ben is NOT wearing the DD mask. Question is...why? Suggested answer, because they're marketing to Affleck fans, not comic fans. Would they have done a Batman cover without the cowl, even if it was George Clooney? And the promo footage seems to have him maskless a lot of the time, even while costumed. The last time film marketers did that in a comic-based film was JUDGE DREDD, depending on the pull of Sylvester Stallone instead of the charaacter's appeal. Good move, eh? It's an ominous sign, and it seems to indicate that they don't have faith in the character to pull the audience.

Considering there's about a bazillion more fans who know Ben Affleck than care about comics, thats a good move.
They shouldn't. Daredevil is an unknown. No one knows Daredevil. There's no reason to expect people to be drawn to the movie simply because it's a Daredevil movie...except comics fans and they're all going to see it anyway no matter how much they bitch.

I'm still trying to figure out why they're promoting a movie in *TV* Guide...

They've been doing that for a while now. I'm scratching my head too.

It's been going on now for several years. TVG has had several James Bond covers just in time for a new 007 movie.

Probably because they feel that TV watchers also sometimes watch movies.
It gives people a little more reason to get/read TV Guide, for the same reason they have other sections in there besides straight listings. Particularly now that straight listings are being needed less, with the program guides of a good cable service and even the guides of some Dish services.

I'm not even going to rent this one. I never saw Spidey in the cinema, saw it on DVD (wish I hadn't payed for it, or seen it). But a Ben Affleck movie to me is like Kryptonite, highly radioactive kryptonite. I'm sorry, but I'm avoiding it, just reeks of Keaton as Batman, and Joel Schumacher at the Camera.

They did this for the Spidey and X-Men movies as well. And I'm sure they're gearing up for their big 'Hulk' issue this June, too ...

Yeah. Worked for Sylvester Stallone and Judge Dredd, didn't it?

They'll go, once. A good opening weekend, then, 50% or better dropoff...
