hi all. just curious if anyone knows what's happening with this series? is kevin smith planning on writing #2 sometime? or is there some other hold up? i'm guessing that instead of waiting to get a few (or all) issues in the bag from the notoriously slow mr smith before releasing #1, marvel wanted to cash in on the movie hype and get thebook out there. it really seems to have blown up in their face.

Maybe that's what they're doing now with the last 3 issues...

I am in agreeance (thank you Fred for the new word I love to use anytime I can). Target has had me scratching my head as to when it would come out with another issue, but then so has Black Cat, Spiderman Blue and Get Kraven's final issues which are even more annoyting because it has been only the final issues that have been severly late.

While I don't see us getting Black Cat or DD:Target anytime soon, I thought I saw Spidey:Blue listed as last Wed or this upcoming Wed. As for Get Kraven, I was under the impression that Marvel decided to end the mini with issue 6 instead of 7.

Correct. We were spared a seventh issue.

He apparently did, originally, 'but then it never came,' according to Joe Quesada.

Quite hilarious.

I find it quite irksome.

Brian Kilby, didn't much care for Smith's DD in the FIRST place...

The irony is that I wanted to respond to your .sig, but Google cut it off for some reason. I could wait until I get home, but I'm bored here at work, so I figure I'll go ahead and respond.

I can't say that I'm *shocked* that the series was never finished, being Smith and all, but I do find it troubling that Marvel would so carelessly release such an anticipated title with no guarantee that it would ever be completed.

yeah, especially when you consider that kevin smith is one of the few writers in the industry who tends to bring alot of non-regular comic readers to the party. this isn't a good way to get potential new readers hooked, it's just gonna turn them away.

'Troubling', sir?

With an EiC famous for not meeting deadlines when HE was an artist (and even when ran his own company with his own characters)?

With editors who do little more than manage traffic, (With Tom Brevoort being a truly notable exeption!) and have no idea how to keep writers and artists on time?

With writers and artists treated like music stars, instead of talented commerical writers and illustrators? (Did Jack Kirby EVER miss a deadline? Not that I know of!)

With fans proclaiming 'we don't care if it's not on time, as long as it's 'good''?

You really shouldn't be surprised, sir. It's business as usual at NuMarvel, and the comics field in general!
