Elektra TPB...

Hi everyone,

I am interested in getting all the TPB of Elektra. I have the Assassins TPB. What are the others? Any that you would recommend above the others?

There are three versions of the Elektra: Assassin TPB. The original soft cover and the original hardcover (very limited), and the most recent new printing (soft cover).

Then there is the Elektra Saga TPB, which reprints Elektra Saga # 1-4, which are altered reprints of Elektra's appearances in Miller/Janson's DD issues, so that the story is seen from Elektra's POV.

Do you regard the Elektra Lives Again graphic novel as a TPB? This exists in at least three versions: two hardcovers (one from Epic, one from Graphitti Designs), and one recent softcover standard format printing.

I'm not sure if the Elektra: Root of Evil mini-series exists as a TPB (and I don't know if any of Milligan's issues were collected, either), but she appears in the DD: Fall From Grace TPB, which (as the writer himself recently informed us) has 15 extra pages of story and art (though it doesn't say so anywhere on the TP.

Then there is the recently solicited hardcover printing that collects Elektra: Assassin and the Daredevil: Love & War graphic novel. I don't know if this is out yet, but it will be very soon.

I suppose there must also be a collected edition of Bendis' most recent Elektra # 1-6, but I haven't noticed it.

This is also reprinted in Elektra Megazine, there are 2 issues. They are not TPBs, more like Thick Squarebounds.

The Elektra Saga TPB also reprints the short story from Bizarre Adventures.

The Miller stuff is also found in the recent 3 TPBs 'Daredevil visionaries'. They also exist in hard cover.

Both these 3 TPBs and the older Elektra Saga (which doesn't contain as much material) are rather poorly printed, imho. The colors make you reach for your sunglasses!

Or, to be more precise: the new version is a standard prestige format, smaller than the original hardcover.

Noone will ever know why. I've decided that the Chichester version must be an Elektra-bot. Or a clone. Or anything but the real Elektra.

Maybee there is a trade collecting the issues of Wolverine she was in?

'Elektra & Wolverine: The Redeemer' is available in 3 prestige format books, or one hardcover. There will probably be a TPB soon.

IMHO the material really worth getting is the original Miller stuff (the 3 TPBs I mentioned is probably the easiest way for that), Elektra: Assassin and _maybee_ 'the redeemer', though this is nowhere near the quality of Assassin. Anything by Chichester is worth avoiding imho.

Yes, the garish colors are something of a disservice to Miller/Janson's stylized artwork. The colors work fairly well on pulp paper, but for shiny glossy paper they really need to be paler. I live in continual surprise about the fact that there's not yet an American black&white edition on the market. Many foreign printings are black&white, and the artwork is *stunning beyond belief* in b&w. Why don't angry hordes of Miller fans beat down Marvel's doors and *demand* a b&w edition??? Why Why Why. O Why.

Especially now. A lot of current Miller fans mainly know his Sin City stuff, which is alomst BW and very violent. Hmmm... a plotline emerges...

OK, but Marvel may well reprint it in hardcover one of these days... I need Essentials with classic Marvel stuff, not hardcovers of inane material from last month!
