What ever happened to the Epic line after its 1990s relaunch?

I know that it died but why? (poor sales?)

Probably. But fear not, apparently Epic is returning soon, to serve home to many new creator-owned projects.

according to all the rage (I think that's where I read it at http://www.silverbulletcomics.com) the Epic line will more be like Marvel Knights than the original concept.
