Hello everybody out there,

An easy way of getting my wife to laugh out loud is quoting famous sound words to her. So far I've come up with 'THWPP', 'SNKT' and 'BAMF'. (I might be missing a second or third 't' on the Wolverine one.)

Are there any other equally well-known ones?

Wolverine is SNIKT (extruding) and SNAKT (retracting). At least was back in the eighties, I doubt they care anymore these days.

Gentlemen....lest you forget the master of the sound effect word........the late Don Martin of MAD Magazine. This is the man who gave us such gems as GING-GOING (when someone is being rendered limb from limb), FLURSHGLURK (flushing toilet), SPLAP (getting hit in the face by a plate of spaghetti), KLOON (hit on the head by a cement mixer), SKWAP (hit on the head with 20 lbs. of creamed spinach), TONG (a girder on the head), NOK, POK, TOK, BOK (when getting hit with a series of bowling balls), and BZZIT, SPOTS, SKREEK, and GISHPLBPT (dentists drill on tooth). There are tons more....let's face it..as far as sound effect words the man was a God.

That's not a sound effect, that's a word. Not onomatapoic.

Damn, can't _believe_ I forgot that one!

I always looked for the THOOM when the Hulk would land after a big jump, or clap his hands together.

Don't count...they are actual spoken words. The fact that they are from Scooby-Doo makes them even less useful.
