Do you think Marvel will try to bring this to film next? This is their oldest superhero comic (1961) and at one point used to be their most popular comic. It has since been superceded by the X-men and Spiderman but is still a well known comic.

I think the origin story would translate well into a movie. You have a love interest (Reed and Sue), cocky teenager (Johnny) and a wisecracking Brooklyn guy (Ben). Technology can definitely handled the scene where they start morphing into their new 'fantastic' bodies.

After that, they go tackle the Mole which is an easy character to replicate.

Hollywood working the way it does, I'm fairly sure the FF will encounter Dr Doom right off the bat. Or maybe Galactus. Or, if we're REALLY unlucky, they will do it the DAREDEVIl way and use BOTH Dr Doom AND Galactus.

Patrick MARCEL, brow sweating, heart pounding, decided to log onto

Yeah, I agree... It's sort of be anti-climatic for any non-Marvel fan who saw the movie. Four good friends get warped cool powers from cosmic 'space rays' to go and fight... THE MOLE MAN. With his MOLE PEOPLE.

Since the origin of Dr. Doom ties nicely to the origins of the FF, he is an obvious choice for a villain. Rather that introduce Galactus in the first film, introduce the herald (assuming that it cannot be the Silver Surfer), and have the storyline where DD steals the herald's power. Then that leads nicely into Galactus for the second film. Then for the third film you can do 'The Trial of Reed Richards', as that spins off nicely from the Galactus story.

There it is - I have plotted the entire series - no need to waste your money on a screenwriter.

Also, go the 90's cartoon and Heroes Reborn route - tie the Surfer (or whoever) into the FF's origin by making him responsible for the comics rays. That way Doom seeking his power fits in a lot smoother - he's looking to be endowed with power from the same source as the FF.

Yeah it was made some studio so they could retain film rights but it wasn't released officially because there was interest in doing a really big-budget treatment instead. This was during the hey-days of the Batman movies.

Ben is earth. Y'know, being made outta stone, and all that.

Reed's ability to flow and change makes him water.

'Wind' is not a good description for Sue. 'Air' would be better, but even that's pushin' it. She just gets stuck with it. /

FYI, while I don't think this has even really been a point in the regular series, the Heroes Reborn incarnation did imply it, by assigning the four elements to Galactus's heralds (Earth - Terrax, as he could control it, Fire - Firelord, duh, Air - Air-Walker, duh again, and Water - Plasma, who was a new character for HR, to the best of my knowledge - the Surfer didn't get one), and pairing them off accordingly in battle against the FF.

The Earth Wind Fire Water thing was brought up during Claremont's run on FF. I think it was the Claremont/Ladronn Annual that featured the villainy of Selene and Blackheart and introduced the character of Technomage (who I never saw again). Either that or it was in the Loeb/Pacheco issues with Diablo as the villain. Cant put my hands on the issues to figure out for sure which it was. Sorry, but it was in there somewhere.

I'd say Ben is pretty obviously Earth (rock), and I'd guess that Sue Storm is Wind (invisible force), leaving Reed to be Water.

Oh, yes, that's right! I'd forgotten about that! Much as I've forgotten about the bulk of Claremont's run on the 'X-Tastic Four'... character's name was Mechamage, btw, and she did pop up again in an issue of the 'Maximum Security' event a couple of years back, there.

Fire = Human Torch Earth = The Thing

Beyond that, I can only guess. Invisible Woman could, I suppose, be thought of as 'an invisible force like the wind'. And Reed's stretching could be thought of as 'flowing like water'.

But that's stretching more than Mister Fantastic.
