It can work, but it does require constant pointing to the proper group (look at the way 'other media' discussions still appear in other groups) Because 'vs' threads work better by getting on the nerves of the 'other side' crossposting is more satisfying for the troll element in these discussions... and a 'vs' group won't stop that.

Also there should be some resolution on where 'vs' comics are discussed if the group is created (they're still on topic in other groups... so... how would you call it?)

Surely official 'vs' comics should be valid in all newsgroups to which they pertain (eg 'Marvel vs DC' posts would be equally as valid on a DC ng as on a Marvel one), while 'vs' posts in the 'X character vs Y character' mould, which are represent never-ending debate (and usually descend into mini flame-wars) would be discussed in r.a.c.vs. The group would of course have an FAQ, which would set out guidelines for vs matches (Didn't someone post a list of suggestions here a while back? That would be ideal)

Very true. And I can accept that... however, those threads could quite quickly turn into 'vs' threads... for example... how could Wolverine have beaten Lobo in 'Marvel vs DC'... you can see how it could happen. Not a major problem, I know, but a grey area to watch for.

It would, if you could get people to agree to it.
