Does anyone know if the clever grey crafty Joe Fixitesque Hulk ever appeared in any of the animated episodes?

Yes indeed - in the final episode of the 1996 animated series, Hulk and Banner, who had been separated in a previous episode, were re-bonded in a nutrient bath, but Rick Jones was accidentally knocked into the bath by General Ross. The result was that Rick became a Hulk creature, and Banner transformed into the grey Hulk.

In the second season, the green and grey Hulk battled for control of Banner's mind - whoever was winning at the point Banner Hulked out, he would become. In one episode, grey Hulk actually assumed the Joe Fixit identity, as part of a plan against a mob-boss named Allure.
