I used to watch the Hulk TV series so perhaps I'm being nostalgic but having seen the film trailer I can't get used to Bruce Banner being so much younger.. or that the scenes of the Hulk leaping miles through the air and throwing tanks just looks like a bad computer game...

How old was Bruce when he became the Hulk originally?

Old enough to get doctorates in physics and (as is traditional with Marvel scientists) possibly others, including a MD, and then enough time to get to a position of trust high enough to design a massive new nuclear weapon. I figure he was probably in his early to mid 30s when struck by gamma rays, plus 10 years now.

I wouldn't necessarily judge the movie by the tv series. Banner was always younger in the comic book, and while the movie has obviously changed some things, it's kept to the ideals of who the Hulk truly is. I read the novelization written by Peter David a couple months ago and loved it. There are some interesting changes regarding the Hulks powers, and what exactly triggered them, that I think make the entire transformation a little more understandable and believable.

As far as the CGI effects go, my only complaint thus far is the scene in which he tosses the tank around by the barrel. I wish they'd taken a little more time to make that more realistic, but I'm not going to dwell on it. The novelization is excellent, and I have a feeling the movie is going to be fantastic as well.

That lines up pretty well with the movie, which places Banner's date of birth circa 1966-67.

Keep in mind, though, that Bruce is a super-genius, and therefore probably got all his degrees very early.

I recall a story where, as a child, he built some elaborate thing at a really young age, which is what initially caused his father to think he was a freak and hate him.

I'm not the biggest fan of the CG used in Hulk (though it is at least better than the supposed 'so realistic you can't tell human from CG' that was hyped for Matrix Reloaded, which strangely enough is outdone by Flight of the Osiris)... But it does at least look better than a bad computer game. Just look at the Hulk game that is out...

(To be fair, I haven't played the game. It might actually be good.)

I have no idea but i think that the Hulk on the movie and in the new video game look very much like a cross between the classic Hulk and the modern age. Kinda what u get when u mix em and keep true to both as much as possible. if possible. and i guess it is. the movie looks like it will be amazing and the game is phenonenal. i bought it and cant barely leave my ps2. i think its great. u can be logical as bruce or raging as hulk and i love that ability to transition. i like the environments too. i hear they are consistent with the movie. i havent gotten past level 4 but hey...im workin on it!! lol. anyone else with

I think it's natural to have a somewhat higher expectation when viewing entertainment material in real-time than in print myself. But I think I'd feel the same way if I'd seen the tank scene depicted in a comic book as I did when I saw it in the trailer. I don't expect the Hulk to be super realistic... rather I'm actually pretty happy with what I've seen since the Superbowl trailer. They've put more work into the effects and the CGI ovbiously, and I think it now shows. But then again I didn't have any problems with the gymnastic ability of DareDevil and Spider-man either so I guess my opinion counts for little

realistic.

I think he's saying the barrel of the tank, when Ol' Greenskin is tossin' it around, could not support the body weight of the tank ... it would snap. I've heard this criticism more than once ... and I tend to agree with it.

Is there a 'good computer game' out there with more realistic looking characters? I don't think so.
