Does anyone know the status of the Iron Man comic? With Grell off the book I can't see an issue coming out for a while. I really hope they find a good team for the book and get the readership back. I for one hope Sean Chen comes back as artist now that he is available. In fact if he and Kurt B. were to team up again I believe there would be a huge amount of interest.

The other option would be to bring back Layton and Michilinie. I am sure they have some stories in the 'can' waiting to be printed.

Things should be fine for this book. Several issues are already completed ahead and information about #65 can be found at http://www.marvel.com/comics/onsale/onsale.htm?id=710.

I haven't seen any information about a new creative team though.

I thought 'Man Hunt' was cancelled! I am really confused. Does anyone know if the storyline will be completed?

Unless I missed something. There's been nothing I've seen in the comics press, nor any word of that on the Marvel web site. I'd have a hard time believing they'd cancel an issue this close to publication. Perhaps something 3-4 months down the line, but given lead time between hiring a team and publication of their stories, I'd say the next 2-3 issues of Iron Man already completed, will be published as originally

Sean Chen isn't available. He'll be the new artist on ELEKTRA.

In Mike Grell's interviews after he left the book, he stated that the Manhunt storyline was cancelled as far as he knew, and that his last issue was # 64. Of course, with him being gone, he's not really 'in the know'. His comments can be found at: http://www.comicon.com/cgi-bin/pulse.cgi?http%3A// www.comicon.com/cgi... timatebb.cgi%3Fubb%3Dget_topic%26f%3D36%26t%3D000593

I'd like to know who the new creative team will be as well.

Yes, I read those, but in the absence of an official announcement from Marvel I'm not inclined to believe that issues would be canceled this close to publication. The issues are still listed on the Marvel website, but I did contact Marvel today to see if I could find out anything officially. We'll see if they have anything to say.

From the interview on The Pulse, Grell won't be finishing the 'Manhunt' story arc that was to start in that issue due just next month.

There's yet to be news of who the new IM writer will be.

Nor word of whether that story arc will be completed by a new writer.

Or if IRON MAN #65 will be late and then resolicited with the new story & creative team info, so that it won't be returnable for retailers (if comics don't match the solicit info from the publisher they are returnable, IIRC).

I'm begining to wonder if Marvel's going to wait and do the latter. It seems Grell's departure was rather sudden, and that editor Tom Brevoort wasn't happy with the direction of the series (and I assume the 'quality' of the writing).

My own new writer preferences:

Alan Davis

After his excellent visual storytelling on the THOR/IRON MAN/AVENGERS 3 parter, not to mention Davis' other great work, I'd like to see where he'd take IM.

Christopher Priest

The Tony Stark & Iron Man guest appearances in BLACK PANTHER show that Priest has a great grasp of how the character should be done. Apparently he has let it be known he's interested.

Dwayne McDuffie

His recent writing for the sucessful JUSTICE LEAGUE animated series shows he knows how to do great fast paced action. Also, his 'Blink' arc of just a few issues ago of DC's playboy/millionaire/industrialist/hero in BATMAN: LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT was a real sleeper hit. A sequel arc is due soon.

Brian Vaughan

People at Marvel have named him as one of the next generation of hot writers. His Y: THE LAST MAN series is a must-read, IMO.

Jimmy Palmiotti & Justin Gray

Their slick fast & smart co-writing on 21 DOWN and THE RESISTANCE show they've the goods to make IRON MAN fresh & new again, as well as bring back some of the past elements that made the series shine.
