Spidey is considerably stronger than Wolvie. I think the only reason they ever show Logan as giving Spidey trouble is this. Wolvie is very popular. They don't want to upset his fans so they portray him as having a fighting chance.

Wolverine has his admantium skeleton, and that includes his skull, etc. IN the classic issue where Spider-Man and Wolverine fight in Berlin, Spider-Man keeps hitting Wolverine but cant do any damage, because of this. His brain, etc, is protected from the impact because of the Admnatium.
At least, thats my thinking on it

True about his skull being encased in adamantium. That should actually work against him. Spidey is supposed to be able to press 10 tons. His punches hit very hard. Wolverines brain would turn to mush from being shaken that hard. Kinda like shaken baby syndrome. I know Wolvie has a super healing factor but the damage would be significant enough to knock him out while he's healing. One good hard shot from Spidey to Wolverines head should knock him out. It goes back to what I was saying. Wolverines popular. Marvel doesn't want to upset his fans by having him lose so easily so they make it seem like he has a chance against Spider-Man.
Later,
Kyle p.s. I love Wolverine. I think he's a great character. He just shouldn't be shown going toe to toe with Spidey and lasting more than about 10 seconds. Same with him fighting the Hulk.

Yeah, Spidey is stronger than Wolverine, as has been mentioned Spidey can dead lift 10 tons. And yes, Spidey always says he pulls his punches when fighting regular folks. BUT....I think most people forget a couple of things about Wolverine. One, Wolverine is a street brawler more so that Spidey, meaning Wolvie has been shown many times in bar fights against many people way bigger than him and he still takes them on. He does this for fun. Spidey doesn't so wolvie should have more street fighting experience than spidey. Two, Wolverine was also trained by the military as a special ops officer so he again has more combat training than Spidey which of course would include ignoring injuries and getting the mission done. Three, wolvie was also trained as a samurai. Again, intense training of the mind and body. Four, the adamantium. Yeah, Spidey could punch the crap out of Wolvie and possibly give him the baby shaking syndrome someone had mentioned but think about punching a steel door at full strength. Break every bone in your hand? Possible. Break at least a couple of knuckles? Definitely. So, would Spidey and Wolvie would still walk away from it because his healing factor would kick in and undo the damage. Check out Larry Hama's run on Wolverine or Eric Larsen. Or check out New X-men went Wolvie goes up again Cassandra Xavier. Wolvie gets shot dozens of times, or gets an eye removed, or has his whole arm burned down to the bone but still bounces back. Wolvie will take in and then kill you. Spidey can't take it and won't kill. No contest.
Oh, did I mention the beserker blind rage?
