Where are the Avengers, Fantastic Four and other super heroes? How could they NOT ignore the events on Liberty Island or a Presidential Assasination attempt. the only conclusion is that they do not exist in the movie versions. or not in the versions we are familiar with. there might be a referance to a Stark Industries or even a Daily Bugle but that does not mean there is an Iron Man or webslinger around. and 'the mutant threat' makes more sense when there are no other 'popular' super heroes around. Though it would be supergeek cool to see see the xjet flying on a mission and they have to detour around Galactus on top of the Baxter Building

I was just wondering if they'd give cameos in the next film to all the existing movie franchise characters (by that time) at the Dark Phoenix 'moment', as in the comic, when Spidey, Dr Strange and Reed Richards appeared in single-panel cameo, sensing the arrival of a new threat.

It's its own universe. If they exist, they have yet to appear. At best, you could possibly say that Spider-Man, Daredevil, and the Hulk are part of the same universe, but even that may not be accurate.

I *really* don't think Sony would appreciate that. That would be sufficient grounds for Sony to... well... they would probably end up literally owning Marvel afterwards.

I'm not sure of whom, if anyone, owns the rights at Dr. Strange or Reed Richards/FF, though there is a FF movie being planned, so someone has the rights to that one.

I'll phrase this in a non-spoilery way, but, in the scene where there are lots of names coming up on a computer screen, one of the icons is labelled 'Franklin Richards'. (Not the big list of mutants, but an icon for a single file.) Not really 'proof' of anything, but, worth considering.

I saw X2 for the second time tonight. It was just as good, if not better, the second time around. Anyway, I don't know who owns the rights to Richards, et al, but I could have sworn that I saw Franklin Richards name on Deathstrike's computer. It was to the left of the Project Wideawake and Cerebro icons. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

So I did see that. Cool. I didn't notice it the first time I saw the movie, but I noticed it tonight. Oh Franklin gets his own separate file huh?

Actually, I think Sony might be able to Fox but they couldn't touch Marvel because, at the end of the day, Spiderman still belongs to Marvel. I mean, if Marvel uses Spiderman's likeness to promote Spiderman comics, is Sony going to even get upset let alone have grounds to sue?

I read somewhere that Fox could, presumably, use the Daily Bugle as an Easter egg in Daredevil or Spiderman if it wanted to but, because Fox is owned by Newscorp, they would rather take the opportunity to promote one of their own, real life newspapers. On the other hand, the Kingpin can't appear in a Spiderman sequel, at least not as the main villain because Fox, presumably, still owns the rights to use the Kingpin, presumably for use in a Daredevil sequel.

It isn't really clear what Fox and Sony could get away with in terms of using 'each other's' characters but it is clear that Marvel has to be careful not to license a character to more than one company or else risk pissing everybody off in the process.
