This past Saturday morning I tuned into the new Fox Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series and caught an episode titled 'The King'. Just before the episode there was text came onscreen indicating that the following episode was dedicated to Jack Kirby The King of Comics.
The episode had Donatello meet an artist named Kirby who was living in April O'Neil's building. Kirby had found a crystal and strapped it to his pencil which made anything he drew come to life. Most things disappeared in time, except for a huge dimensional gateway machine. Donatello and Kirby went through the portal and stepped into a world rendered very much in Jack Kirby's artistic style, complete with Thor type warriors guarding a rainbow bridge and battling troll like creatures.
I don't want to spoil the ending since it will likely air again, but since I haven't seen any threads on the show I get the since that many comic fans may have missed the episode.
I would recommend that all Kirby fans try to catch the episode when it airs again because it really was a great tribute to the King of

IIRC, this was the plot of the Donatello one-shot, good stuff. I think that because of this and the Palladium RPG, they even created a Kirby NPC!

It was a nice episode. I wondered though, when did Jack actually get his start in comics? Was he young? Middle Aged? He looked like in his 40's in the cartoon.
