[re: Hawkeye]

No argument there. When I picture the JLA, Batman is definitely on the roster.

I think Aquaman will return. When I picture the archetypal JLA team, I picture Aquaman in the ranks. It can be argued that the JLA is the Greek/Roman pantheon modernized. Superman is the sky-god archetype, like Zeus. Batman is personification of the underworld, much like Hades. Green Lantern is the builder/craftsman archetype, like Vulcan. Wonder Woman is exactly the archetype of a matriarch, like any mythical Amazon. And Aquaman is the sea-god archetype, a modernized Neptune.

I think Hawkeye will return to The Avengers too

Hawkeye is currently not on the team, and hasn't been on The Avengers prime roster for a while. Batman is on the JLA, and has been on the roster for quite some time. The distinction between Hawkeye's and Batman's membership is very obviously. Take all the JLA comics, past and present, and count all the ones with Batman as a member. Now take all The Avengers comics, past and present, and count all the ones with Hawkeye as a member. There's the distinction.

The day Aquaman returns will still be sooner than the day Hawkeye returns.

Hawkeye did make an impact on The Avengers when he was a member, and no one can argue that his fan base isn't evident. But to say he's a 'core member' is a bit sketchy, especially when Captain America, Thor and Iron Man stand out as core members more so.

Amazons weren't really matriarch types. As warriors, hunters, they were probably closer in archetype to Athene or Artemis, both (supposedly) virgins.

Amazon *itself* is an archetype, the feminine (not female) counterpart to Warrior (the masculine). A West/East/North/South layout of eight archetypes is often shown to be Amazon/Warrior, Majestrix/Sage, Matriarch/Patriarch and Companion/Seeker. One usually begins life as one archetype and continues through life eventually adding a second, non-opposed archetype. She may eventually add Matriarch to her repoitoire, but her actions in Kingdom Come were definitely Patriarchal.

the avengers, Clint is a known fav, he has been on two diffrent avengers teams and as two diffrent hero's. The batman is also a core jla member as aqua man, (ask anyone if they have heard of Manhunter, or aqua man, bet 90% of people who dont read comics know auther. Get the point)

And i dont think anything anyone here really has a say anyway, i mean did anyone say the book had to be perfect????? Did you write or draw it??????? So take it easy lads just enjoy it, so debating it, your taking the joy of comics and spoiling it for every-one. Do you know why the world outside comics perseves us so badly ( geeks, losers, dorks, comic's are for kids, any of it sound farmilar) You, you are the reason, and i have to admit it has been me to. But its time to grow up and evolve make this industry some thing to be proud of. Think about it

I wasn't implying that Wonder Woman represented a mother, childbearer archetype. And I don't necessarily think being a matriarch implies that either. I always considered a matriarch a female head of a tribe or household.

And that's why I connected matriarchy to the mythical Amazons.

What archetypal chart does this information come from? I'm curious.

A female can be considered patriarchal? That's sounds like a conflict of interest to me.

She sounds like a quack.

I looked her up on the internet and found that she has a Master of Divinity in Psychology and Religion.

I'm curious how that compares to a real Psychology degree.

If that isn't a prejudicial comment, I don't know what is. She has the perfect combination of subject matter in her degree to be talking about mythological archetypes. And sorry, but having a 'real psychology degree' (and I defy you to define that) doesn't prevent one from being a quack. What are your credentials for calling somebody else a quack?

Additionally, I don't know where she got her chart from - if it was wholly original, or from another source - which may have passed your 'test' for legitimacy. This is all pretty straightforward Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell stuff.

I beg to differ. I believe most people that don't read comics know who Aquaman is. He's an easy-to-remember character

Also a lot of people know Aquaman from his own cartoon and from the Super Friends cartoon.

I remember when President Bush said he was going to hunt down 'evil doers'. Colin Quinn joked on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update 'Who does he think he is
