This came out of a discussion about my fear that if the Birds of Prey TV show is a success, this would cause the book to change. It seems there's an upcoming storyline where Black Canary is tired of working. Hmmm, what are the chances that The Huntress is recruited by Oracle to replace her? Now, this isn't a bad idea within itself. The conflicts between Barbara Gordon and Helena could prove to fodder for interesting stories, not to mention that Barbara would make a better mentor for her than Batman ever did. My concern is that the decision was made upstairs at Warner Brothers to make the book reflect the series more

Well, it's a little different in a CONTINUING series; then the temptation to take advantage of the extra publicity is kind of irresistible. It's not like adapting a static novel or play. Besides, sometimes it results in lousy individual stories but good plot developements in the long run. For instance: Clark Kent and Lois getting married; Alfred Pennyworth returning (how many of you guys remember that Alfred DIED saving Batman and Robin, in a touching story in the early sixties)....would you rather have Alfred in THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS or his 'replacement', Aunt Harriet? Batgirl; Inspector Henderson; we could continue this if we wanted to, but you get the idea. It's not always bad. Yeah, it can be horrible

Hopefully get the Hulk back in it.
-ZacWilliam, who has every single issue up to when Peter David left and most after, but hasn't bothered to buy it in months now because while it's a well-written x-files take off, it's simply not much of a Hulk book anymore.

Just because the movie will be an action-comedy doesn't necessarily mean Namor will be cracking wise. There is a lot of humor that can be had from a scowling humorless charcter. In the old days such charcters were 'straight men' for the characters that would do all the wise cracking. Course, on the surface an action-COMEDY Sub-Mariner movie sounds like a naff idea, but then many thought the same of Keaton as Batman and look how well that turned out.

<<And as everyone knows, the X-men now no longer wear costumes because they didn't in the movie, thus removing one of the joys of four-color comics. I mean, aren't colorful, representative costumes part of the fun of it all?>>

He acted the part, but the character was lost and so were the promises that he made to his parents, a) no killing b) he didn't use a gun, but he was very violent compared to the comics.
