It seems as though Marvel Comics is finally getting successful in the films industry after the long string of flops they had in the 20th Century (Punisher, Captain America, Spider-Man, Power Pack, Howard The Duck, Fantastic Four, S.H.I.E.L.D., Dr. Strange), but then after the creation of 'Blade' they seemed to be very successful in the 21st Century (Blade, Blade II, X-Men, Spider-Man, Dare Devil) and some forthcoming films that we can expect to be successful (X-Men II, Hulk, Spider-Man II, Dare Devil II, Elektra, Fantastic Four). So far there is at least 5 film franchises that Marvel will have by this Summer, and I am sure there will be new films to be added by 2004, most likely canidates are Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Captain America, Elektra, Black Panther, Punisher, and perhaps S.H.I.E.L.D.).

While Marvel's Characters are on a roll with the Silver Screen, I think it is a good idea if they pursue a lot of their proposed projects while their reputation is still good.

First off there is supposely is an Elektra film spinning off of 'Dare Devil', probably laying heavy on Jennifer Gardener's buy rate! I also believe that I read that a Wolverine project is in the works follow the X-Men II release. These are both good ideas if the rumors turned to facts.

I think a 'Punisher' flick (done right) would make a good project, with ties to Dare Devil. I know that Frank Castle was introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #129, but I associate him more with Ol' Horn Head.

The Morbious film would work as a good project because vampires seem to be the 'In-thing' in movies. Unlike Blade, who acted more like a Vampire Slayer than a Vampire himself; Morbious would be played more like an actual Vampire who is fighting his inner-demon, much to the tone of Bill Bixby's 'Incredible Hulk', or Jonathan Frid's 'Barnabus Collins'. If they make the film with ties to the Blade franchise, that would be even better since Blade often had many meetings with the Living Vampire.

Black Panther is a project that Wesley Snipes had been slated for a long time to come. He would bring a lot of Justice to the character, especially with emphazise on the African Background.

Other Choices I would like to see pushed to the front line are:

Iron Man Fantastic Four Captain America Namor, The Sub-Mariner Iron Fist Power Man Warlock Magneto (spinning off of X-Men) Moon Knight Werewolf by Night (Shi-Chang) Master of Kung Fu

And I would add a Thor project, but I don't know how to make it work for the movie audience without it getting a bit far from the comic book rendition.

Anyone else?

First, I had no idea that there was ever a Power Pack movie. When did THAT happen?

Also, don't forget the eminently awful Marvel movies from the seventies

Or like Angel (which is the comparison the public would see even thought he was around first)

It was a half hour TV pilot. It really wasn't very good.

No. You need to get past the fact that these changes are pointless so who cares it's like the people who complained about the Kingpin's skin colour. Secondly have you ever seen Captain America movie from the 1990's? Superheroes traditionally dressed look shit in live action. Personally I thought Bullseye looked great. Thirdly Spiderman's webbing was changed because it isn't conceivable for a 15 year old to design such a powerful adhesive. Why put in plot points which will confuse the plot too much for no real reason. The questioon you need to ask is did the look of bullseye or the webs being natural REALLY take away any enjoyment from the movie?

Could you imagine an Avengers movie? With all these different characters and their origins. It's a little too much to ask from Joe Public.

Personally I thought the Dark Pheonix saga was crap. I like what they're doing now. Basing it loosely on X-Men stories but crafting completely new tales.

Not if you want it to look believable on screen. Some things that may work fine in a comic book just don't transfer well to a live-action movie, and spandex costumes are definitely at the forefront of such a list.

Personally, I'm glad they changed Bullseye's look for the film, as he it would have been very difficult to take the character seriously had he been running around in blue and white spandex.

I liked Bullseye in the movie. He could've ended up looking like a prat in black leather. It just seemed more likely that an assassin would wear normal clothes so as not to draw attention to himself. ALthough the line where he says to the Kingpin that he wants a costume was funny.

'Punisher' is in production at Artisan Entertainment. They just released a photo of Thomas Jane (as Punisher) in costume. It's posted on my web site.

Indeed! And I have high hopes that they're planning to do something along those lines. If you notice in the first X-Men movie, Magneto's mutating energy (during the Liberty Island Event) actually affects Jean ever so slightly. Trust me, we haven't heard the last of THAT!

< BEWARE!!!! SPOILER for XM2 BEWARE!!!! > < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < <

They STILL can do the Phoenix saga in the third movie. It wouldn't take much. That ending is X-MEN #102, more than #137.

Yep. And Arnold Schwartzenegger can play the part. He's already got an accent. 'I shalt be back!'

It looks as though Frank Castle is indeed going to be clad in spandexs, but I guess the leather coat will play the distiguishment!

By looking at the picture, it doesn't do much for me, but I will reserve my judgment until after the release. They could have at lease dyed his hair black to give him a better resemblance to the comic book persona!
