Not at all. The big animated movies usually do very well.

Which just proves the continued ignorance of the financial press. Marvel's earnings from 'Hulk' are capped after a certain amount, and Marvel is all but certain to max out no matter the film's final take.
'Hulk''s gross is only a problem for Marvel if it results in fewer Marvel characters getting optioned and fewer Marvel movies getting made. As yet, there are no signs of either.

I think it is sick to consider 62 mio a failure. Personally I didn't even expect that much. Marvel should get back to the ground.
Of course demanding extra percentages from cinemas doesn't help. Several big cinema chains now boycott its premiere which will further dent the

Gee, I wish I had a 'mere $62.6 million.' Since when are movies that don't break the $100 million mark in a few days considered flops?

Since 1) they started costing more than $100 million, 2) US movie viewer habits changed, so that for blockbuster films there's an extremely fast box office dropoff after the first week (I believe the last major film to have truly significant US box office legs was Titanic, and Finding Nemo is the only one to come close in that regard this year), and 3) since studios and/or critics started predicting how much movies would make at the box office prior to opening, and compare the actual results to that figure.
On the other hand, many people ignore that for these films, the US box office is around a third of the total revenue, the rest coming from non-US box office and DVD/VHS sales and rentals. With a side order of merchandising for some films.

still a big if) then I don't think Universal will be too disappointed, though, not too happy. With foriegn box office then DVD/Video they could end up making about what is normally expected for a big movie, about 3 times production. Which as I understand is around the profit point. (but certainly not the % you would want on $150 million dollars spent to make the movie)
D: You mean they will re-edit the first half so, it's not slow as hell, and redo the hulk to make him and his skin look half way real? (sorry...I couldn't resist)

Hey that a great idea! This 'special Edition' DVD could be about 40 minutes long and be much better than the original!! - Get the new SHORTENED version Director's cut!
