I think the animated series of most heroes have excelled far greater than the films. Even though they have more time to flesh the story out, they still understand the characters better. The WB's film of Batman was average, but the animated series was incredible, plus they pulled the plug early before it even had to chance to get tired. And they did not have him kill ( by the way, in case you have not hear, the DD film will have him kill, which I find a pretty big change for the character). Batman forever had very bad villains, Jim Carrey as the Riddler, his line 'Was that too over the top? I can never tell' summed up his dire performance, and Tommy Lee Jones reeked. Batman and Robin... well you all know what went wrong there. The writers did not understand the characters. Looking like them is not enough, you have to act like them too. Thankfully in the animated series they need only act like them, and speak like the fans or creator wanted them to appear, making for better viewing.
