I have been plowing through my old collection of HULK (started reading in 1970) and am really enjoying Sal Buscema's run (I am up to #250). I just picked up the B&N version of the MM HULK #1-6 collection. I know I have read a reprint of the original #1, but I had never read the next five. Wow! I had no idea! Banner was voluntarily forcing himself to change into the Hulk? This is amazing!

I knew the whole 'gets stronger when he gets angry' and even 'changes into Hulk when he gets angry' did not happen at the beginning, but I had no idea how different Stan Lee's original version was from what I grew up reading (from 1970-on). It just blows my mind. I picked up the ESSENTIAL HULK #1 recently too, but I have not cracked it yet. I cannot wait! Amazing (and fun) stuff!

Wait until you get Essential Hulk Vol. 2. In my opinion, it is a much better volume. Vol. 1 has a long, slow plow through the middle third.

A perfect example of why early Marvel was so damn good. The FF was the same way.
