Old School Marvel Fans...What Do You Think?

It really bothers me how 'New Marvel' has seemingly forsaken a lot of the great writers and artists for the flavor of the month. While some of their storylines are interesting, I am not a big fan of decompressed storytelling.

But what if you were the new EIC at Marvel? What teams would you put on some of their books? My picks would be:

Amazing Spider-Man

The claremont/cockrum idea is great....id love to se that.

Id also bring back Shooter for Avengers.

Id make Starlin do something, but only if its a good idea and he doesnt quit.

i wouldn't let Byrne do my laundry unless it were Alpha Flight

Hulk - Peter David and Dale Keown.

If Byrne could produce stories like he did with his last run of FF, then by all means Marvel should throw a bucket o' money at him and let him have at it. Say what you will about Byrne, that run still stands up, and is enjoyable to the point that when I decided to sell my collection, it was one of the things I kept.

Iron Man....Michieline/Romita Jr./Layton Hulk...Peter David/Sal Buscema....just please give Sal a strong inker. Avengers....Busiek/Perez......again...just leave them alone and let them go nuts. Cap....Stern/Zeck/Beatty

Creators aside, if I was the new EIC at Marvel I would do the following.

The FF and the Avengers would meet up and discuss how the past is just a bit different than they remembered it being before they lived in the heroes Reborn world. It's finally decided that they returned to an alternate Earth and ask Dr. Strange to find their original universe. He does indeed....as our heroes return to the pre-Heroes Reborn universe and Nu Marvel is gone forever.

I would put the Thunderbolts team back in their book instead of whatever the f*ck is in it right now.

I really liked X-Men: The Hidden Years (Lost Generation as well), but a lot of his other recent stuff was hit-and-miss to me. When it comes to Alpha Flight though, I'd love to see him take another crack at it.

I think Byrne is a good 'team player' when it comes to the shared universe stuff. He doesn't run over the other titles, even though he takes a lot of liberties with his own books. In the case of AF, this always seemed to work well.
