. . . . . . . How out-of-continunity was this? Wolverine didn't know before this issue that Spidey was Peter Parker? There's a reference to a Spidey/Doom/Reed Richards encounter that never took place? I am not one to grouch about Marvel editorial, but really, isn't there anyone responsible who checks story points like this over before allowing publication?

I can think of numerous times when wolverine has shown hat he knows parker is spiderman, one being the piderman/ wolverine story by todd macfarlane where they were in canada and fighting the wendigo and logan sniffed him out in the streets.

I'm quite sure that logan knows who peter parker is.. They both figured out each other's identity in a story line that took place in Germany. (which was their first encounter with each other) and as you said Logan sniffed him out...
I vaguely remember Spider-man wearing the tag-line Die Spinne (or something like that) on the back of his costume (the reason being, he bought the costume from a local mall)
