The Mendoza line for Marvel Comics

Well, in baseball, they have what's called the Mendoza line. It refers to a player with the last name Mendoza who consistently batted .200 while staying in the major leagues several years. .200 is a very low average, but it is clearly possible (or was when Mendoza played) to survive at that level for a good long while.

Well, the Mendoza line in Marvel Comics appears to be Spider-girl. (yes, her again). As the June sales numbers arrived, we can see who is batting below the Mendoza line and as a result will be sent down to the minor league team - The Cancelled Comic Cavalcade.

Outside of the minis & the books that have already been cancelled, I'd be shocked if any of those comics are around in a year.

Sales on this must have picked up, didn't it used to be a lot lower?

This is disappointing. But perhaps people are waiting for the TPB. I know I am, because V1 read more like a graphic novel than a 12 issue series.

There HAS to be a reason why they even bothered. Who didn't know this would happen after the sales on the first mini?

So you have Agent X selling badly and Solider X selling worse. When they are both cancelled what do you do? Put em together and start a new ongoing? Perhaps Jemas thinks that putting 2 leads together wont double their sales value.

hmmm doesn't say much for Tsunami.

Probably not higher sales per se, just that there are fewer titles selling better than Spider-girl than there were a few months ago.

Possible also. Have to wait until Paul posts the usual sales analysis.

People were smart. This mini-series was *terrible*.

serious? That was quick. Only a 3 issue mini then? Not 12? Disappointing I was hoping for a nice long action movie styled read not a 4 minute flick through.

Yep, only 3 issues this time around. I skipped it, despite enjoying the first series. From the sounds of it, I chose well.
