Well it is a what if. It's pretty much set out in issue 5 what Thanos has to do. And we know he destroys the Universe already.
Sidebar issue I have to say that this is the first time that Marvel has dared to include God in a storyline. The highest they've gone before is the Living Tribunal. But God seems to have stiched up Thanos like the proverbial kipper in this storyline in a fairly nasty way. I can't imagine what religious readers must make of it.
I also note that Vishnu and co made a reappearance in Thor recently, despite the promise never again to offend Hindu readers in such a way as caused all that uproar back in Thor 301.
Guess JQ doesn't give a hoot about religious sensibilites. Good for him I say
