I have a fairly open mind about comics. I realy do. I like all kinds of books, and I'm not troubled by mature readers only or strict continuity if it makes for a good story. i like comics aimed at many different age groups and I may be conservitive, but I don't mind realistic portrayals of teenagers doing what teens do. I was one once, I remember what happened. I like mark Millar, love the Dodsons and I'm right there with an open mind wanting to maybe like this book. . .

Lord help us, but this is the worse book i have ever read. It's pretty. And I can see what they were going for. I realy can. It's doable (no pun intended) to make a book that is kind of maxim-ish and dawson's creek-y, get the young teen girl and horney teen boy market but this is just last american virgin on salt peter.

What alot of trouble touble is.

Somehow I have the feeling the public whose primary entertainment includes Dawson Creek-style are willing to pay up to and including $0.00 for it. Silly for Marvel to try to compete.

And they don't have to read anything with a TV show, unless they accidentally got the closed-captioning stuck on.

The problem I had with the first issue was that it seemed too recent, too contemporary to be about Peter Parker's parents and Aunt May and Uncle Ben. There was no 50's/60's feel to the thing; therefore, these teens are way too young to have become the characters they are proported to be. Unless they're ret-conning Peter Parker becoming Spider-Man in what, 2020?

That's fine, but how are they gonna HEAR about it? Was it advertized in Seventeen Magazine?

I don't know... I think Millar's keeping something back and there'll be something at some point that changes the notions regarding the Spider-Man tie-in. I'm not saying it won't seem cheap to many, many people... just that it will likely occur.

I have, lots of times, including the day that TROUBLE was released.

But I don't think any of the teenaged girls I've seen in comics shops would buy TROUBLE

Well, I think the product is being aimed, once again, more at the bookstore market, which is a disjunct set from the comic book store. And in that respect, the covers pretty much blend with other products. Any comic book shop sales are going to be considered gravy...

Maybe you're right. But as much as I love the Millar superhero books, I for one won't be around to find out if there is a twist. Not many books can put me off enough that I will drop them without a second thought after one issue, but this is one of them. Is this really the same guy who does Ultimates?!? Utter crap...

Hiya All I can say is you have only seen the first issue. This series is supposed to go through a lot of plot twists and where it ends up is anybodies guess.

Matt.
