I presume that I should only count ongoing comics, and not future releases or wish-lists such as '1602', 'something by Scott McCloud', or 'anything written by Paul Chadwick, especially Concrete'. I count 'Supreme Power' in this category, since it won't hit the stands until tomorrow.

Here goes. It gets progressively harder after the first two.

1. Girl Genius 2. Astro City 3. Rising Stars 4. Fallen Angel 5. Captain Marvel 6. The Crossovers 7. Amazing Spider-Man 8. Human Defense Corps 9. Um, Halo & Sprocket? 10. Promethea, I guess. (It's still hard to believe that Alan Moore could wind up this low on my list, even if it's still a top ten. Speaking of which, I miss Top Ten!)

'Arrowsmith' has the potential to move into this list, but I'll have to see a few more issues to be sure.

Whoops...I missed that one! Buh-bye, Cannon God...

I can't *belive* I missed that one! See you, Thor...

When it was done by Parobeck and Burchett, pure magic.

Isn't this only supposed to last a few issues?

1. Thunderbolts. Well, not NOW of course (and pre-#75), but back in the day, particularly when I first started reading it, every other title was insignificant compared to what was gonna happen in Marvel's Most Wanted that month. Which is good enough to have it rated #1 still.

2. Astro City.

3. Batman.

4-10. void. Don't get anything else anymore. Maybe Avengers somewhere in

Fabian Nicieza says no, both on forums and to me rather bluntly a bit further up this group.

in no perticular order;

New X-Men Ultimate Spider-Man Gambit Sandman: book of dreams (i know it's technically not a comic) Wolverine: Origin 1602 (if that counts) Weapon X (how wrong can you be) Batman: Year One Wolverine #100 ( i'd only been into comics a few months, and i wanted that hologram cover sooo badly

My first post here - hello everyone.

1. Swamp Thing (the Bernie Wrightson run from the 70's)

2. Swamp Thing (the Alan Moore run from the 80's)

3. Watchmen miniseries

4. Conan the Barbarian (the early run with Barry Windsor-Smith in the 70's)

5. Jim Starlin's original Adam Warlock from the 70's

6. The first 12 issues of Micronauts from the 1970's (maybe just because they're obscure)

7 - 10. probably a bunch more old school stuff from the 70's or early 80's (Steve Englehart's Batman, Frank Miller's Daredevil, John Byrne's Fantastic Four, ...)

Quick add on - Persepolis was very good, not sure of it counts, but I liked it.

You really like old comics?

I too like the old school comics but still there are some comics that run now that I enjoy

Those old school ones were what I remember from the time when I was really into comics. I still think of a lot of comics from the 90's as "new." I'm only just beginning to catch up with the classic story lines from the 90's (Sandman and Doom Patrol most recently). I did read Y-The Last Man as it came out in TBP, but otherwise I have very little idea of what's currently being published. When I do get comics now I wait for them to come out in TBP form, so I'll always be a little behind the times. I don't have anything against the new stuff though.

I wait monthly with baited breath for:

1) Astro City (but I don't hold my breath or I would be dead)

2) Action (Johns has been kicking true ass on this title).

3) GL - Again the magic of Johns

4) Powers

5) I know there are more...

lists make me nervous, they seem so confining. i'll blurt out random stuff, tho.

personal bias, i'd read a phone book if alan moore wrote it.

i loved epic's alien legion.

there was this secret origins special from 1989 covering batman's rogue gallery that had a fantastic neil gaiman take on the riddler in it.

sandman #50, the "ramadan" story with p. craig russel on art.

certain story arcs of marvel's "the nam".

stray toasters.

amazing spider-man annual #20 was really good. had some edgy pencils by mark beachum in it, excellent story (even if it was standard time-travel fare). stands out in my mind at least.

eisner's "invisible people".

etc. etc.
