Who do you are think are the greatest artists to draw Spidey? My five are: 5. Gil Kane 4. John Romita Jr. 3. Mark Bagley 2. Todd McFarlane 1. John Byrne!!!!!! Nah.. I'm just kidding. Hey!! Stop throwing tomatoes at me!! The real No. 1. John Romita Sr. He drew the definitive Spidey.

What are your opinions??

In no order, I'd go with Bagley, Romita Sr. and Jr., and Steve Ditko. Choosing a fifth is tough; I'm not a fan of either Larsen or McFarlane, Buscema's art is mediocre (though his work in SSM 200, in particular the final pages, deserves some accolades), and I haven't followed the Spider-books recently enough to have any impressions.

my top 3 Spidey artists would be:

1) Jazzy John Romita Sr. 2) Steve Ditko (he defined the character and set the tone for Mr. Romita's work) 3) Ross Andru

I would swap Gil Kane for Ross Andru, but otherwise I agree!

1) Romita Sr. 2) Steve Ditko (a genius but too idiosyncratic in parts!) 3) Mark Bagley 4) Romita Jr. 5) Gil Kane

... don't like MacFarlane's Spidey and Ross Andru leaves me cold.

I never was a big Ross Andru fan either... (which isn't to say I could do any better)

Not much of a fan of Bagley or McFarlane's Spideys...I would definitely be sure to put Ditko up there...

AND...

If you saw the issue of Peter Parker a couple of months ago, I think you'd agree that Lee Weeks is destined to do Spider-Man...and soon!!!

Cheers!!

5 - Todd McFarlane 4 - Steve Ditko 3 - Luke Ross 2 - Mark Bagely 1 - Steve Skroce

Here's my opinion:

5: Ron Frenz 4: Erik Larsen 3: Todd McFarlane 2: John Romita 1: Steve Ditko

Steve Ditko created Peter Parker's look and feel, and Romita, shall we say, tightened it up a bit. The original Spider-Man books by Romita Sr. and Ditko are probably the most entertaining, at least to me. I just like Frenz's style, as well as Larsen's (big fan); as for McFarlane, his art just rocked back in his early Spider-Man days.
