Who should join the Avengers?

I think that SilverSurfer should join the group!

I'd love to see Nova and Archangel join. Maybe Deadpool for at least a story arc, too

Give him a break. I'll take his boundless enthusiasm over some mouth breathing any day.

Surfer is way too powerful to join the Avengers, and I can't imagine a scenario in which he would want to join anyway. He wouldn't 'fit' in the book.

I'd like some x-people to break out of that mold and work over into a different part of the MU. Someone like Shadowcat (who isn't doing much of anything except the GLMK2 storyline), Cannonball (who I don't want in XXM), or Rogue (to see how she'd work with some former enemies on a long-term basis).

I can think of reason why Surfer might join Avengers, try Kang and Immortus!

What about them? The Avengers have defeated both, repeatedly, without the Silver Surfer.

And from a real-world standpoint, Surfer's abilities are for all practical intents and purposes limitless. It's hard to come up with a threat that would challenge him and wouldn't obliterate the Wasp in one panel.

Well, Superman was a member of the JLA when his abilities were essentially limitless.

Hmmm, come to think of it, those JLA stories weren't very good.
